More Law of Attraction Weight Loss

My, my, what a bad little poster am I!  Not as in “poster” like on a wall; more like one who posts… or in my case, one who DOESN’T post. 

Well, while there are no excuses, there are some reasons…  Here they be:

First, our schedule has gone crazy in the weeks following the start of this blog.  When I started, I actually had a little time on my hands to maintain it, but that’s no more.  Which in the scheme of things is a good thing.

As many of you know, we relaunched the Web site www.bethandleemccain.com and announced Beyond the Law of Attraction, the way to the Law of Attraction through the Core Being.  If you haven’t read about it, check it out at the site.

But the project that has consumed the most time and energy is the feature film.  Check it out at www.movie.bethandleemccain.com  and get all of the details.  You can even participate in it financially!  Imagine if Rhonda Byrne had invited you to participate in the movie The Secret.  Well, likely you wouldn’t be sitting here reading this blog if you had! 

And all this comes when we are readying two publications…  The Summer issue of The Indicator: Your Law of Attraction Quarterly (here’s a link! www.bethandleemccain.com/29.html ) and the second publication is a book; the first Universal Law of Attraction Resource Book.  (You guessed it!  THERE’S A LINK!) www.resourcebook.bethandleemccain.com

So while I won’t make excuses, I’ve definitely dropped the blog ball. 

So here’s what I think I’ll do:  Of course, I’ll always answer your direct questions and respond to your wonderful e-mails; any of you who have written me know that.  So I’ll continue to do that, always.  And every so often (every other week or so) I’ll post my current weight.  Which as of today is…

So in my last post I told you about my long lost love, Diet Pepsi, and how I can no longer be a part of her Aspartameanie ways. So what’s a poor Soda Dude to Do?

1. Can of CLUB SODA

2. Lemon Juice or Cranberry juice or Grape juice or Green tea, or anything else that’s liquid and tasy and aspartame-free!

3. Liquid Sweet and Low (which is Aspartame Free!

I’m baaaccckkk!!!

Never left, really… Just haven’t been doing my posting like I should because Beth and I have been pulling 15- to 20-hour days getting the magazine out.  It goes to press in the morning, and it’s really something to see. 

It’s our Life Coach Issue and we have articles by some of the leading life coaches in the LOA world today, including Eva Gregory who is in the new Law of Attraction Chicken Soup for the Soul book; and the incredible Carol Goddard from Australia.  There are also articles by Charlene Proctor of The Goddess Network.  She’s got a number of worldwide bestselling books out right now, and, well, there’s just so much more. Here’s what the cover looks like!

WEIGHT STUFF…

So basically I’ve been holding my own.  It’s been about a pound a week, as you know if you’ve been following the weight loss page on the Web site.  I haven’t heard much from any of you recently, and we really have to get a handle on what we want to do together to really make this Blog and our weight loss work together. 

Here’s a question…  Do any of you subscribe to the Blog via RSS feeds, or any of that?  I’m still not sure how that all works, and I wonder if any of you automatically get every post as they are posted?  Could you do me a favor and drop me an e-mail at lee@bethandleemccain.com and let me know if that’s the case? 

Now that the magazine is done, I’ll be posting here much more frequently.

BTW, here’s a funny story for you, kind of weight-loss-related!

So any of you who know me know that I am a staunch supporter of our next president. (His initials are B.O. as my Republican father-in-law likes to remind me!) This isn’t a political story, and I’m not going to try and convince any of you about personal politics, but here’s how my dedication to weight loss kept me from a chance meeting with my political choice!

As you know from our last issue of The Indicator, this candidate’s campaign staff has been very accommodating providing interviews, press materials, etc., and because he is a card-carrying practitioner of the Law of Attraction, they bent over backwards to give us everything we needed for our last issue’s cover story.  Here is the cover:

Anyway, it has been our family’s tradition every Friday evening about 6 o’clock to go out for pizza in our town, Corvallis, Oregon, to the best pizza place anywhere!  It’s called American Dreams and we used to go there without fail. 

Well, last friday at 5:30 pm The Candidate (Our Next President!) and his three buses drove up and had an unscheduled two hour dinner/visit at… You guessed it, THE PIZZA PLACE!  If I wasn’t Mister No Pizza these days, we would have been there!  But you know what?  After chuckling over the irony of it all, I really felt good about the situation as a whole, because the fact is, I’m losing weight and I’m doing it through the Universe with the LOA.  And how can anything be wrong if the Universe is on your side?

The other ironic part of the story is that the owners of the pizza parlor wanted to go to Eugene that night and see B.O. at the scheduled rally, but they figured they wouldn’t be able to score the free tickets (and it sold out in about an hour… 9,000 seats!  WOW!), so they decided to just stay at the shop and work the Friday night… And who pulls up for pizza?  How’s that for some Law of Attraction for the store owners???

Hey, Gang of Losers… Weight Losers, that is!

How are all of you doing? I’ve been having a lot of wonderful e-mails sent my way from many of you, so it looks like the Blog truly is the hub and spoke system. Don’t worry, I’m not posting anything that you don’t want me to post. So far you’ve all asked to remain private and since that’s working so well, far be it from me to tip the apple cart!

So here’s some photos. First, the “Beginning” photo (and it wasn’t really a beginning one… this one was taken after I passed the 500 mark!)

I’m pretty happy with it, and remember, I’m only two-thirds to my goal weight of 215 pounds! (And it may be more, or less… I’ll wait until I’m getting close to decide on an actual target weight.)

Holding Pattern Week

Hey, ya’ll… Well, here’s something to talk about that I bet you’ve experienced, and if you haven’t, you probably will during your weight loss journey…  And that is…

PLATEAU CITY! 

That’s right, I haven’t lost anything in about three days (in an hour it’ll be 4 days…) so that tells me I’m making a pit stop in Plateau City!  Oh, the plateau!  (It’s funny, but I noticed the root word for plateau is PLATE…)  Well, all it means is I’ll lose more next week, and the GOOD THING… (Isn’t there always a good thing with the Law of Attraction?)  … is that reaching a plateau shows that the metabolism has adjusted itself and that it’s time to do a little tweak in order to kickstart the next round of weightloss.

 I usually adjust meal sizes (but increase with an extra snack) and do a little more walking and it’s so surprising that after a couple days the weight starts to drop again with so little effort on my part.  It’s like it’s just a little signal that we’ve still got a way to go, but that all is right… Mr. Body knows what to do if I’ll agree to meet it halfway.  Beth has me riding the stationary bike, too.  Talk about a funny sight.  I swear, if my kids ever film me riding that contraption and post it on YouTube, it’s all over for me!

My oldest daughter, who is a baking fiend… and boy, can she bake!  made some Valentine’s cupcakes with her little sister and the house smelled like heaven… Calorie heaven, that is.  You know what they say about smells being free… So I sniffed a lot, but I DIDN’T TAKE A BITE!  Not even a crumb!  Not even a spoon-lick!  And you know what?  I didn’t miss anything, life goes on, I got to smell the wonderful smells, and watch my kids make a big old mess in the kitchen and have fun doing it. 

Beth passed on them, too, although I don’t know why she thinks she needs to lose weight.  She’s perfect!

Thanks for all of your off-forum e-mails.  I think our new hub and spoke system is working out.  A big shout out to Ro, too!  You’re such a busy girl… glad you’re back in the club!

This Just In….. WOW!

OK, gotta share this with you!  Just got a wonderful e-mail from a lady who was in the testing group for our Subliminal Manifestation CD  (Here’s a link if you don’t know about it…  www.bethandleetickets.com/7.html ).  Anyway, she wrote this big, long, BEAUTIFUL e-mail saying how she could never lose weight before, and since following the subliminal program with the CD she can!   She said she’s lost 49 pounds since August.  She said she’s completely changed her habits, hasn’t wanted for anything foodwise, and made it through the holidays.  I’m going to ask her if she’ll let me post her e-mail here on the blog.  Anyway, that’s really good news.  Beth and I really worked hard on that project and really pulled out all the stops to make sure it would work like we want it to. 

We had all the testing, and all that, but to hear from one of the test group (who didn’t even know anything about the LOA) send this e-mail really warms my heart.  Beth’s asleep right now, so she won’t know about it until the morning, but I couldn’t wait to tell you guys about it.

Things to Look Forward To…

Hey, gang…

 Just thought I’d share a few things with you that I experienced while losing my very excess weight these past couple years.  It’s funny, but they are things you probably wouldn’t think about.

 1.  You’ll notice your weight loss in your face first.  Funny fact, but true.  Also, your extremities will be next.  Your upper arms and your wrists and ankles.  Don’t be tempted to discount this.  These are major indicators that the weight is beginning to drop.

2.  Going to the bathroom will become easier at about week four.  At my worst weight, I actually had trouble reaching around to the back area to take care o’ business.  Sorry if it’s too much 411 for you, but the truth is the truth, and the truth that if I’d waited any longer to lose weight I either would have had to be like the Queen of England and employ a Royal… Oh, what should we say… Wiper!  Or else invent something that would take care of it mechanically.  Ouch!  So I decided to lose the weight instead.  Also, fear of breaking the toilet diminished as the weeks went by.

 3.  It’s true what they say about an energy increase.  My first major energy increase happened at about day 90.  Since then, it just gets better each day.

4.  Guilt will set in at about twelve weeks.  Don’t fall for it!  The guilt, which I liken to “Survivor’s Guilt,” is when you begin beating yourself up because you waited so long before starting.  Whatever!  Forget all that negative stuff.  This is the Law of Attraction, and when the guilt monkey jumps on your back, kindly remind him that you are in the midst of your most incredible and positive undertaking you’ve ever been on in your life, and you’ve got no time for any guilt monkeys.  Instead pat yourself on the back!  (You’ll be able to do that by week 20!)

5.  You’ll start to feel these weird pains and sore muscles in places you never have felt them before.  Like the sides of your kneecaps will hurt, and behind your ankles, and inside your upper arms.  “But Lee,” you say, “If I’m losing weight, why all the muscle pain?”  Here’s why!  (And it’s something to celebrate!)  For the first time in years your muscle use is being redistributed because of the changes in your body.  So where you might have built up a certain tolerence in your knees while you were carrying the weight, all of a sudden, when the weight begins to go, the muscles that you never used before (because they may have been hidden by, or surrounded by fat and were mostly unused), now begin daily use.  Enjoy these pains!  Thank the Universe for them, because it means that you are losing the emotional shell you no longer need.  And now your muscles that have been asleep for all that time are beginning to awaken.  How great is THAT? 

6.  You’ll stop being hungry all the time!  (Won’t happen until about week six, but when it happens, THE ANGELS SING!  That gaping hunger goes away and you actually begin to eat when – get this – you’re actually hungery!)  What a concept!

7.  Seat belts will begin to fit!  (Well, maybe not on airplanes for a while, but they will in cars!)  Depending on your starting weight; for me it took about six months.  No more breaking seatbelt laws!  (You know the trick… Pull the seatbelt across you like you’re wearing it, but the fastener is about a foot away from where it’s supposed to stick in!)  Funny thing, when I was too big for seatbelts, the seatbelts that were too short were in the American cars.  The Japanese seatbelts always fit, even when I was reaaaallllly big. 

8.  You won’t have to insist upon a table in a restaurant.  You’ll be able to fit into a booth!  (I’m JUST at the point where I can slide into a booth and have about 2 inches of clearance.  So it’s not COMFORTABLE yet, but by the summertime I expect I can booth it… Even at Denny’s!  (Notoriously tight booths!  Think of all the business they lost from me all these years!  Silly Denny’s!)

9.  Movie theaters are an option again!  YAY!

10.  And the BIG ONE!   CLOTHES SHOPPING WHILE YOU’RE DROPPING!  There’s nothing like comfortably fitting into a lower size and knowing that you will NEVER be wearing the previous size again… For the rest of your life!

I’ll be the Hub… You be the Spokes!

What does this man have in common with the LOA Weight Loss Club?  READ ON…

Hi, everyone.  Well, so we’re still shaking out the best way to do the Law of Attraction Weight Loss Club here, and so I’ve got a few ideas…

It’s pretty clear that you guys don’t want to make public posts; that you’re more of a passive, reader-only kind o’ group.  That’s totally cool; we each do this (weight loss, weight issues, etc.) in our own ways.  So here’s my idea…  Tell me what you think!

Since I started the blog, you can think of me as the LOA Weight Loss Hub.  Hubba Hubba!  I’ll be the Hub, see, and YOU guys can be the SPOKES.  I don’t know why an analogy seemed important, but it did, so there.  :-)

So here’s how the Hub n’ Spoke system will work…

Each of you, whenever you want, can send me an e-mail directly with your question/comment.  I will answer you directly, and will turn the question – without your name or any reference to you – into a form that everyone can see on the blog.  That way, you get the benefit of passing on your experience without it being cast in internet stone for all to see.  (Those nosy co-workers, dontcha know!)

So how about it…

Just so you can get a taste for the new Hub n’ Spoke LOA Weight Loss System, here’s an example from start to finish of how it could work…

Let’s say George W. Bush wrote me an e-mail that went something like this:

“Lee…  Dubya here…  Feeling paunchy round the middle these days and I’m not likin’ it.  Seems my waistline is under attack from the evildoers at Krispy Kreme.  Osama sends me donuts.  I tried everthin’; it’s like the terristss has it out fer me.  They hate my personal eatin’ freedom.  They feed me burgers of mass consumption.  My cholestoral’s gone nookyouler.  Do ya have any advice for an otherwise strapping young man who’s let his job negatorily affeck his consumption of cal-rees?”

To which I would reply on the blog with a post like this…

“Hey, everyone!  Got a great message from someone with an all-too-common weight management problem.  One you probably can identify with.  It seems he’s taken to eating habits that are not the best for him, and he feels it’s due to his highly stressful job.  And his business rivals are doing things to thwart his progress by tempting him with greasy donuts, and all numbers of enticements.  He wants to know how the Law of Attraction can help him during this stressful time when he is prone to making food choices that he feels aren’t the best for him. 

“My suggestion, having been in stressful work-related situations myself (usually from on-the-go convenient eating while travelling), is to concentrate less on the weight, and weight-related specifics, and instead concentrate on basic centering through the Law of Attraction.

“See, my own personal weight loss journey with the LOA has relied more on mental centering, than through counting specific calories, or just focusing on food, food, food.  The Law of Attraction techniques removed the desire to overeat and focus on food because I had envisioned and told the Universe that I wanted more than anything to lose all the excess weight.  I didn’t micro-manage and suggest how; I just said what I wanted.

“The Universe, through the Law of Attraction, sent me the answer by just removing the want or desire to overeat.  It’s like I was given a blanket that was draped over me… A blanket that was the barrier between all of the unhealthy food choices, and me… A person who NEVER considered anything that he put in his mouth previous to this wonderful life-change.  So if it worked for me, it will work for you, too.”

So how’s that for an idea?  See?  No one would have ever know it was George who sent the e-mail, (except the nice folks at the telecomm companies and Homeland Security… But what’s an e-mail between friends!?) yet his question was handled in a way that it benefits the whole group.

Oatmeal Bread Recipe

Hey, buds…

I promised you I would wrestle the fantastic oatmeal recipe from Beth.  (Well, any excuse to wrestle Beth!!!)  OK, so here goes.  I promise you it is heavenly, with low calories and all that there…

Oatmeal Bread Recipe

(Makes 3 loaves)

Cut into 12 slices per loaf

Each slice: 115 calories

1 cup brown sugar

1/3 cup butter (yes real butter:)  )

3 cups boiling water

2 cups regular or quick oats

1 package of yeast

1/2 cup warm water

1 TBSP salt or less

6 cups whole wheat flour

1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

Dissolve the brown sugar and the butter in boiling water and immediately pour over the oats.  Let it sit until it gets lukewarm.  About half an hour.

Next put yeast in 1/2 cup warm water and stir until dissolved.  Add yeast mixture to oatmeal mixture.   Beat in salt and three cups of whole wheat flour.  You can use a mixer for this part.

Mix remaining flours into oatmeal mixture by hand or with a wood spoon. (take off your rings because it can get sticky)  Make sure not to knead it.  Place in a covered bowl and let rise for an hour and a half.

Next shape dough into 3 loaves and place into greased loaf pans.  I use non stick spray to grease.  Cover and let rise until doubled in size which is about an hour.

Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes.  Brush top with melted butter if you like.  I usually don’t but it does make it a softer crust.  Cut each loaf into 12 slices. 

(This bread freezes really nicely but usually it doesn’t last long enough to freeze at our house.)

I BUSTED THE 300 MARK! YAY!

Hi, all!

 Well, I busted the 300 mark.  I am now 299 pounds.  I now weigh less than I did at the age of 17.  I will never be 300 pounds again.  WOW!

Okay, this is a miracle.  It’s a Law of Attraction miracle!  I can’t even believe it.  Beth and I are so happy.  So anyone out there who thinks they CAN’T do this, I’m here to prove to you that kind of thinking is just plain useless.

I’m going to make this post a little shorter than usual because we’re going to celebrate tonight and all day tomorrow!  Please write me your thoughts…  Thanks, everyone!
